NIGERIAN POLITICS: BEYOND WHAT PROPHETS SEE

On May 29, 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, was inaugurated into office as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is the 16th President of Nigeria. He was the Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007; and senator for Lagos West in the Third Republic.

According to records, he studied Accounting at Chicago State University. On his return to Nigeria in the 1990s, he was employed by Mobil Nigeria as an accountant. He became the Lagos West senatorial candidate in 1992 under the Social Democratic Party. Under the banner of the Alliance for Democracy, Tinubu won the first post-transition Lagos State gubernatorial election. He further won a second term in 2007. It should be noted that every other state in the south west region fell to the People’s Democratic Party.

In 2006, Tinubu offered Abubakar, the then-vice president, the opportunity to change parties and join the AC, offering him his party’s presidential candidacy, with the condition that he, Tinubu, would be Atiku Abubakar’s running mate. Atiku declined the offer.

Tinubu aided former military head of state General Muhammadu Buhari, leader of the CPC faction of the APC in 2014. Tinubu initially wanted to become Buhari’s running mate but later relinquished for Yemi Osibanjo, his ally and former commissioner of justice. In 2015, Buhari emerged victorious against Goodluck Johnathan, marking the first time an incumbent Nigerian president lost to an opposition candidate.

Tinubu made his formal announcement of candidacy for president on 10 January, 2022. He won the party primaries on 8 June, 2022, and was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by INEC on 1 March, 2023.

Prior to the election, several prophets and pastors prophesied about the election. Bishop Feyi Daniels, the founder of I Reign Christian Ministry, said Tinubu would win the election but would not be sworn in on May 29, 2023. According to him, Tinubu would be arrested by security agencies.

Prophet Godfrey Chidi, the Convener of the Holy National Covenant of Divine Intervention in Nigeria’s Affairs, said there would be an interim government from May 29.

Prophet Odumeje Chukwuemeka, also known as Indaboski said, “Peter Obi will succeed Buhari.” In his words, he said, “Peter Obi will succeed Buhari. That is what God revealed to me. Nigerians will be happy because of it.”

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the founder of Believers’ Loveworld, also known as Christ Embassy, prophesied that the name of the next President is in the bible. This led many to believe that he was talking about Peter Obi, since Peter was one of Jesus’ disciples.

In the end, Tinubu emerged as the winner, contrary to what all the prophets quoted above prophesied. On 29 May, 2023, he was inaugurated and sworn into office. He wasn’t arrested as prophesied, nor was there an interim government being set up. Tinubu came out victorious instead.

  1. This is really interesting and disappointing… Can our dear men of God humbly and sincerely go to God and be sure of what they receive from before coming out to the public to speak… God help the church and Nigeria..
