Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, is a Nigerian chef born on September 20, 1996, hailing from Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. She obtained a degree in sociology from Madonna University.
Hilda’s culinary career is influenced by her mother, who is also a chef.
In March 2023, Hilda announced her intention to break the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, previously held by Lata Tondon since September 2019, with a completion time of 87 hours and 45 minutes.
Hilda commenced her record attempt, named “Cook-a-thon,” on May 11, 2023, and concluded on May 15 at 7:45 am.
Initially aiming for a cooking duration of 96 hours, Hilda later extended her goal to a 100-hour cooking marathon.
Several notable Nigerians, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, award-winning singer Tiwa Savage, then-Vice President of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and newly inaugurated President of Nigeria President Tinubu, visited the cook-a-thon venue, sent encouraging tweets, or made phone calls to support Hilda during her cook-a-thon.
